Things to do on Your Austin, TX RV Trip
Enjoying the Texas hill country in an RV is the way to go. From city life and water activities to the country and even a winery or two, here are a few things to do on your Austin, TX RV trip.
1. View the Congress Bridge Bats
Watch as 1.5 million bats fly out from the bridge at sunset. It’s a crazy sight to see and one you can’t miss before you leave.
There are several ways to view the bridge and see the bats:

2. Snap Some Mural Pictures
Austin, TX is known for its murals all around the downtown area. From the ‘I Love You So Much’ mural at Jo’s Coffee on Congress Ave. to the ‘Greetings from Austin’ mural on South 1st, there are plenty to choose from.

3. Go Paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake
See the sights of the city via a paddleboard or kayak. There are several companies to rent from including Live Love Paddle and Epic SUP.
4. Eat Tex-Mex at Guero’s
This is a tourist destination you’ll find that both locals and tourists love to visit. It’s also a popular spot for celebs visiting the city to pop into for lunch or dinner, although I’ve yet to see one!
Guero’s serves up delicious Tex-Mex and is one of the oldest establishments on South Congress still open. Be sure to come for happy hour and enjoy live music on the patio.
5. Go on an Austin Wine Tour
If wine is your thing (It’s my thing for sure) then book your spot on an Austin Wine Tour. They tour two main trails which take you out of the city and into the beautiful Texas hill country: Dripping Springs and Fredericksburg.
The Dripping Springs wine tour is only 35 minutes outside of Austin and features nine wineries along the way. You can ride along in a limo, party bus, private van, sedan or SUV while you enjoy the scenery and sip wine is the way to go!
6. Lake Travis Zipline Adventures
For the adrenaline junkies, a trip on the Lake Travis Zipline is for you.
It’s the longest and fastest zipline in Texas. Your adventure includes the necessary equipment needed, boat transportation, water, and a light trail snack.
7. Go Swimming in Hamilton Pool
A short 20-minute drive from the city, Hamilton Pool is Austin’s historic swimming hole complete with a waterfall. Get there early though because it fills up very fast!
8. Hike Enchanted Rock
This 1.3-mile trail is considered moderate and is best to visit September – May when the temperatures are cooler. The drive from the heart of Austin is around 1 hour and 40 minutes.
9. Go Swimming in Barton Springs Pool
This three-acre pool is fed from underground springs and has an average temperature of 68 degrees – perfect for those hot Austin summer days. It does cost to get in, with ticket prices different for residents and non-residents.

10. Walk Mount Bonnell for Sunset
A walk up Mount Bonnell is free and a prime viewing spot for the sunset. You get a beautiful view of the water, downtown Austin, and the Pennybacker Bridge (also known as the 360 bridge).
There are curfew limits for visiting, which are 5 am – 10 pm.
