Top Rated RV Parks & Campgrounds in Florida Keys
When traveling throughout the United States, it’s safe to say nothing comes close to the experience of visiting the Florida Keys. It is pretty much a world unto itself. A world of sandy beaches, lined with palm trees, coral reefs, and beautiful sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean. Within this unique world, it’s not hard to find a great place to park your rig and set up a home base. Today we share our list of the best RV Parks in the beautiful Florida Keys.
Reserve your site at one of these RV parks to make your visit to the Sunshine State a trip to remember.
Our visit to the Florida Keys a few years ago was an unforgettable first experience. I guess you could say that we “lucked out” when we found ourselves staying at an ideal spot in the heart of the Florida Keys. Fiesta Key RV Resort is located on a private island and surrounded by breathtaking views of Gulf of Mexico. I’ll give you plenty of details about Fiesta Key below.
But that’s not the only great place to camp in the Keys. In this article, we review private campgrounds, and RV resorts with amazing views and amenities. Whether you’re searching for full hookups, picnic tables, or waterfront sites, you can learn more to find the perfect place for you and your family.
Our RV Travels to South Florida
By the time we headed south from Orlando toward the Keys, we had already spent nearly a month in Florida. For all of us, this was our first real visit to the Sunshine State and we were really enjoying our road trip adventure.
Thus far our visit to Florida involved a few key moments. We spent a week touring Universal Studios Orlando. That was enjoyable due primarily to two things: butter beer and the Harry Potter-themed rides and experiences.
We enjoyed plenty of time making new friends at Thousand Trails Orlando (affectionately known by regulars as TTO). This park was one of our best overall experiences. If you are planning an RV trip to the area, we highly recommend you reserve a stay at TTO.
We stopped in Tampa to send our daughter on a flight back to Texas. Her spring break was over and it was time for her to return to college.
Heading South To Florida Keys
As we drove south and approached the Miami area and Everglades National Park, we felt like we had entered a new dimension! Never before had we seen such a lush, tropical environment.
Southern Florida is teeming with fresh fruit farms, unique birds and vegetation, and expansive panoramic ocean views. It felt like we were on a tropical island instead of mainland U.S.A.
Our experience in the Everglades alone introduced us to nine different ecosystems! It’s hard to convey in a few words the diverse range of wildlife, plants, and waterways within this unique national park.
When you plan your trip to the Keys, carve out time to stop at Everglades National Park. I guarantee you will agree that seeing the natural beauty of that park is worth a visit.
But my friend, when we took the ramp onto Overseas Highway, we could hardly believe our eyes. Yes, the water really IS that blue and that clear!
It made us feel like we were driving directly into the heart of paradise as we slipped past beaches with impossibly white sand coupled with that pristine water. There’s just nothing like it.
Top Florida Keys RV Parks
Fiesta Key RV Resort
Location: 70001 Overseas Hwy, Layton, Florida
Although Fiesta RV Resort Key is a Thousand Trails property, membership is not required to book your stay. It’s located in the city of Layton on Long Key, an island in the Middle Keys.
Personal Experience at Fiesta Key RV Resort
With our first glimpse of this unique part of the country, we immediately knew that a few nights was not going to feel like a long enough stay. However, that’s all we were able to manage for our stop at Fiesta Key.
As we approached the resort heading, we could honestly hardly believe our eyes when we realized it was surrounded by that beautiful water. I know, you’re thinking, “Duh, it’s the Florida Keys. Of course, it’s surrounded by water!” But we were mostly clueless and didn’t have a concept of what that would look and feel like.
To say we were pleasantly surprised by this 28-acre private island with 324 RV sites would be an understatement. I can’t even tell you the number of times that we looked at each other and said, “Can you believe this?”
The RV sites are relatively spacious with full hookups. That said, it’s essentially a gravel lot without any shade trees or grassy areas (at least during our visit). Other than a picnic table at each site, the grounds are very simple. That certainly didn’t bother us. We got ourselves situated in our comfy site and then headed out the door as quickly as possible toward that coastline to see what awaited us.
We discovered the large sitting area with tiki hut shades next to the onsite restaurant and bar. There is also a large outdoor pool. It’s situated a few feet above sea level, which enables you to relax poolside while soaking in a great view of the crystal blue ocean.
Live Music, Drinks, Friends
As if that weren’t enough, we discovered on our first night that they offered live music on the patio area of the bar. Great live music, ocean breeze, a cold drink, friendly folks who we instantly connected with, capped off with a perfect ocean sunset. We had found it all right here and we gratefully drank it all in.
Do yourself a favor and spend a decent bit of time (more than the few nights we had) to enjoy this fantastic RV park in an unforgettable location. You’ll be glad you did…and you’ll be back.
Oh, and if you find that you want some time outside of your RV? They also offer suites and small cabin rentals that look fantastic.
Fiesta Key RV Park Amenities
You will have plenty of options to enjoy the great outdoors during your stay at Fiesta Key. Here is a summary of the many amenities available at the RV park.
In addition to the onsite amenities, Fiesta Key is only 3 miles from Long Key State Park, a must-visit for any wildlife enthusiast. Enjoy bird-watching, swimming, kayaking, hiking, or mountain biking, among many other outdoor activities.
Campsite Features
There are 324 RV sites at Fiesta Key, including waterfront sites.
Sunshine Key RV Resort
Location: 38801 Overseas Hwy, Big Pine Key, Florida
I mentioned above that we made some friends during our stay at Fiesta Key. We have stayed in touch and even reunited with one couple in Colorado! Making new friendships within the RV community is one of the best parts of RVing, in my opinion.
Our friends highly recommend Sunshine Key RV Resort, located about 45 minutes south of Fiesta. Sunshine Key had always been their first choice for RV camping in the Keys. They switched (temporarily) to Fiesta after Sunshine Key was damaged during Hurricane Irma. They returned to their usual campsite after Sunshine Key finished rebuilding the infrastructure and upgrading the facilities.
Sunshine Key RV Resort is a 75-acre resort with nearly 400 full hookup RV sites available. If you want to experience RVing in the Keys but don’t own a rig, you can rent a vacation trailer! Sunshine offers 1- or 2-bedroom trailer campers and tiny house cabins for rent.
Sunshine Key RV Park Amenities
You will have many activities to choose from during your visit. Enjoy top-notch basketball courts, volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts, or a plethora of watersports. Guests have easy access to water activities, including kayak rentals, stand-up paddle boards, snorkeling, sunset cruises, and fishing. If you love spending your time outdoors, this may be the best place for your next vacation.
Here are some of the key amenities and guidelines at Sunshine.

There are 399 RV sites at Sunshine Key, including waterfront and marina front sites.
Grassy Key RV Park and Resort
Location: 58671 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, Florida (Mile marker 58.7)
Situated between Fiesta Key Park and Sunshine Key Resort is one of the top-rated RV parks in the Keys. Ranked 4.7 out of 5 on Google reviews Grassy Key RV Park and Resort is worth consideration. One reason for this ranking is the location.
Grassy Key is right in the heart of the Florida Keys, offering a great home base for the many water activities, shopping, events, and live entertainment you will find in the Keys.
Grassy Key RV Park Amenities
Grassy Key, a smaller RV park with 34 RV sites, is open year-round. Each site is equipped with full hookups and you can choose from standard or deluxe waterfront sites. Extended stay rates for weekly or monthly bookings are available at a discount.
Here is a quick overview of the amenities and guidelines at Grassy Key.

Pelican RV Resort and Marina
Location: 59151 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, Florida
Located just a hop, skip and jump back to the north from Grassy Key is another highly rated RV resort that deserves your consideration: Pelican RV Resort and Marina.
The Pelican is part of the Sun RV Resorts chain of properties. In my travels, Sun Resorts were some of the most expensive RV park options. They are high quality and offer great amenities and customer service. Expect to pay up for the additional comforts.
Pelican RV Resort Amenities
In addition to various onsite amenities, the Pelican Resort offers a nine-room hotel.

Bluewater Key RV Resort

We couldn’t give you a list of the best Florida Keys RV Parks without including at least one resort in iconic Key West. With that in mind, we bring you Bluewater Key RV Resort.
Our RVing friends tout this as one of the best private campgrounds in the area. From tiki huts that offer exceptional outdoor living to top-notch customer service, it is nearly guaranteed that you will enjoy your stay at Bluewater.

Key Points About Key West
It’s worth noting that Key West is near the southern tip of the nearly 125-mile Florida Keys Island chain. Overseas Hwy is primarily a double-land highway, but some areas narrow down to one lane. As a result, traffic can slow to stop during peak season. Be prepared for a long drive if your destination is Key West. A reasonable estimate is approximately four hours from Miami (on a good day).
Another point worth mentioning is rates are typically higher because Key West is popular and in high demand. If you choose a Canal or Bayfront site at Bluewater, it will cost up to $340 per night during the winter season (with a 3-night minimum stay).
Luxury comes at a price. But, if you’re willing to pay, Bluewater may be the perfect place for you. Because one thing is certain, you will be near the heart of the action with enough to see and do to make it worth the higher rates. That said, I recommend taking the rates into account when making your decision.
Bluewater Key RV Resort Amenities
Bluewater is an RV ownership park and all sites are privately owned. In accordance with its by-laws, Bluewater is maintained as a luxury RV resort. The resort welcomes Class A, B, or C motorhomes, fifth wheels, and trailers at least 20′ in length.
The resort lives up to its luxury moniker. The landscaping, vegetation, and water views alone offer a paradise for any RVer.
Here is a short list of the amenities at Bluewater Key RV Resort that may entice you to visit.
Campsite Features
El Mar RV Resort
Location: 6700 Maloney Ave, Key West, Florida (1.5 miles off US 1 on Mile Marker 5)
A smaller, simpler (and less expensive) option in Key West is El Mar RV Resort. Everyone has their perspectives on what is considered best. If you’re an avid fisherman seeking access to the sportfishing capital of the world without the need for luxury amenities, then perhaps El Mar is the one for you.
There are a few things to note about this resort before you reserve a site. The site is restricted to RVIA RVs that are 30 feet or longer with interior bathrooms and compatible sewer hookups. Tents, pop-ups, and truck campers are not permitted. El Mar is a standard lot RV park. There are no bathrooms, showers, or laundry facilities.

Todd loves a competitive game of table tennis, a breathtaking hike, and exploring new places. He lived and traveled in an RV with his family as they traveled throughout much of the US and parts of Canada. Todd has extensive knowledge about RV travel, safety, and accessories and has shared many of his stories here on TREKKN. When he’s not busy launching and building small businesses, you may find him staring at pictures of Glacier National Park (probably his favorite spot on earth).
You need to check out Keys Palms RV in Key Largo. It’s a small park but its extremely well kept.
Thank you for that recommendation, Christopher! We are big fans of small and tidy, so it sounds ideal to us. 🙂
Happy Travels!
